Since I started to heal and walk again from my DVT I have been so excited about being able to walk and move I have not been able to sit still to read or write. I tell you walking feels oh so good, so be brave and park far away from the store and walk!
I am liturgical with a swirl of mystic monasticism rolled into my walk with Jesus Christ. Some people start off in a faith tradition and never change and I admire that stability. I used to feel bad that I have been in so many different faiths. But not anymore, that was part of my faith journey on earth and I learned different aspects from them all. I have especially learned that "religion" can drive men mad!
Planting roots into the Anglican faith for one year to study and write about their faith community has given me peace as my beliefs and views of God and life have changed as the Holy Spirit teaches me. God is so much more vast and inclusive than I used to believe. When I smell the burning incense as I am approaching the archway of the church I feel the spirit. I cross myself with water to remember my baptism. When I kneel in prayer and think of all humanity throughout history who have worshipped God just as I am doing it seems amazing to me.
I found peace in my one-year Anglican walk. I do not get wrapped up in the politics of religion anymore. My contemplative time in prayer keeps me focused on what is important. Within the Anglican church, you are free to reason about faith and God and not be a clone in some religious matrix. My physical walking is healing and getting better all the time and so is my spiritual walk with the Lord more peaceful and healing.
