This past week I was able to fly in my cousin Bill's new green Cessna Cardinal. Bill is a great pilot and made me feel safe even when the plane bounced on the turbulence. I found I had to hold on to the chair to feel calm on the bounces. But what is funny is that was not going to do anything to keep me safe. Yet I had enough faith to get into the plane, enough faith in my cousin Bill to fly us safely.
In our faith walk with Jesus, we hold onto the Holy Bible, other times we hold onto prayer or the church. Sometimes we even hold onto another person's faith as if our own. But in the end, it is the Lord's love for us that sustains us in our mortal life and in the life across the veil. We just need enough faith the size of a mustard seed.
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible. ”
Matthew 17:20
If I have enough faith in my cousin Bill to fly me 2000 feet high in the air, I hope I have at least that much faith in the Lord to guide my life, amen.
