This Sunday is when we celebrate Jesus coming to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. The sad part is the cross did not pass over Jesus. But He was to be slain for our sins symbolic of the Passover lamb. Back in Egypt, they put the blood of the lamb on the top and sides of the doors of the houses of the Israelites. Interesting that the blood of Jesus was also horizontal and vertical on the cross. But before that happens Jesus is given a Kings' welcome in the city and He fulfilled the prophecy of the Holy Bible.
Zechariah 9:9Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem!
Look, your King is coming to you;
he is righteous and victorious,
humble and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem!
Look, your King is coming to you;
he is righteous and victorious,
humble and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
John 12:12-15Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
12 The next day, when the large crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 they took palm branches and went out to meet him. They kept shouting:
“Hosanna!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord—the King of Israel!”
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord—the King of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written:
