Sometimes being in silence is a beautiful cleansing experience. But being silent too long can begin to make one become a blank sheet and you can begin to get writers' block. I found myself writing and speaking for years and then right before the Pandemic of 2020 I was not writing and speaking as prolifically as I once was which became disturbing and frustrating. I got to the point that I believed it had all been said before. There is nothing new to be said. I so wanted to come up with something brilliant to say that had never been said before. I was haunted by the Bible verses from Ecclesiastes 1:8-11 which read,
8. All words are worrisome; more than one can express; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
9. What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
10. Is there anything of which one can say, "Look! This is something new?" It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.
11. The people of long ago are not remembered, nor will there be any remembrance of people yet to come by those who come after them.
These scipture verses haunted me. I even asked God in prayer is there anything left for me to share with or say to the world.
This has gone on for most of this year 2021 and my one blog post in January can attest to this. But yesterday I heard on a podcast John Cooper of Skillet say he just keeps sharing "ancient wisdom." And then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I realized I need to keep sharing Jesus the Christ and His wisdom. I need to continue to share what was written over two thousand years ago in the Holy Bible. I need to share the ancient wisdom of Christ Jesus followers the Apostles and the Church Fathers like Polycarp who was mentored by St. John the Apostle.
I don't need to reinvent the wheel but show others how to use the wheel and appreciate the wheel. I am unashamed of my traditional-historic Christian beliefs. There is a deep richness in the ancient wisdom that the current world has become blind to it's teachings. Some people I can reach and some I cannot reach but I must grasp the one's who are willing to grasp hold of my hand spiritually speaking. I reach out through my writings and speaking. I may in the future reach out with a podcast of my own. For now I will fire up my wordsmith skill set and battle on with a voice for Jesus Christ and share the ancient wisdom.
My silence has ended for Jesus used John Cooper to tell me I still have a voice to use for Jesus and to share it with those who have eyes to see and ears to hear! Glory be to God!
