The Benedictine Monks have one way of studying the scriptures and it is called "lectio divina" that involves reading a scripture verse and then meditating on it. Next, they will pray about the verse and afterward contemplate its meaning to their life. The reasoning of this method of study is not to study as a theologian would but try and encounter the holy verse as God speaking directly to them. Give it a try yourself today.
Joshua 1:8New King James Version (NKJV)
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Prayer: O'Lord, may our hearts burn to be in Your Holy Word, in Jesus name, amen.
