FREEDOM FROM BONDAGE

I thought Jesus more than likely thought about things that weigh us, humans, down and keep us enslaved as He was in the wilderness.

·        Emotional bondage
·        Physical bondage
·        False religion bondage
·        Mental bondage
·        Family bondage
·        Cultural bondage
·        Racial bondage
·        Political bondage
·        Sexual bondage
·        Prejudicial bondage
·        Hate bondage
·        Financial or debt bondage
·        Career bondage
·        Satanic bondage
·        False beliefs bondage

Galatians 5:1

So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay
free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.

Christ died to set us free from sin and from a long list of laws and regulations.

Christ came to set us free -----not free to do whatever we want because that would lead us back into slavery to our selfish desires.

Those who appeal to their freedom so that they can have their own way or indulge their own desires are falling back into sin.

But it is also wrong to put a burden of law-keeping on Christians.

We must stand against those who would enslave us with:
·        rules
·        methods
·        special conditions for being saved

In our American culture, we as Christians fight bondage that we like to ignore or not talk about.

Bondage to debt.

Which is linked to a materialistic culture that bombs us night and day with every conceivable way to market a product that you cannot I repeat cannot live without!!!

Even I have bought into it and everyone here at one time or another has bought into it.

WARNING: You can become a slave to debt!!!

Proverbs 22:7 (New American Standard Bible)

The rich rules over the poor,
And the borrower becomes the lender's slave.

This shows how important it is for every man to keep out of debt.
Jesus came first and for all, to save us from sin and allow a way for us to go back home to Heaven.

But He also wants to save us from a lot of mistakes and heartaches while on this earth.

If we will only listen to Him.

If this were not true, Jesus would not have inspired the authors of the books and letters of the Holy Bible to be written.

John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.

You can NOT have an abundant life in debt.

Afraid to answer the phone, the door, you dread the walk to the mailbox full of bills.
You are a prisoner and slave of debt and the creditors own you and control your life.
You are so worried about the money problems that you are in no position to put the kingdom of God first or help another human being.

Matthew 6:33 (New American Standard Bible)

"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Luke 16:11 (New Living Translation)
And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?

Luke 16:13 (Amplified Bible)

No servant is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money (riches, or anything in which you trust and on which you rely).
·        Love and trust God enough to make financial sacrifices.
·        Break the bondage of debt.
·        Stop being a slave to money and debt.
·        Get professional help if you need to but do it today!

It would be a great sorrow to have the Lord say “Come, follow me”.
Only to have to say back to Jesus:
“I will follow thee, Lord, but let me first go bury my debt.” (Luke 9:59)

POISONING THE FRUITS OF THE HOLY BIBLE

The Holy Bible has many beautiful truths within its pages and the most wonderful story in the world of how a loving and gracious God came from Heaven to Earth to save us from sin and ourselves.  What I have seen that saddens my heart is when men and women distort the Bible's precious truths. Sometimes they play mental gymnastics with a rubicon of verses to put together their own view of a topic and make the Bible appear to support their side. Both the liberal and conservative Christians do it and even those who are not even believers play this game. People who want all answers to life and faith but only from the Bible are some of the most toxic and unhappy people I know. Where is their Christlike love? Jesus dealt with this kind of mindset in his mortal time on earth and they were called Pharisees. We must be willing to take the Bible as it is written and what the writers led by the Holy Spirit meant. We must be authentic and transparent. Some things in the Bible are uncomfo...

CATHOLIC TENDENCIES

Ever since I was introduced to the Catholic Church I have been fascinated by this body of the Christian faith. One thing that has stuck with me that I admire is the unashamed strength to stand up for what they believe and back it up with The Three Pillars of the Church. Now for those who do not know The Three Pillars, they are number one, Sacred Scripture which comprises the Old Testament and New Testament in a total of seventy-three books. Next is the Apostolic Tradition which is the Living Tradition and the liturgies. Thirdly, The Living Magisterium which is the teaching authority of the Pope in Communion with the Bishops. So what brought this topic up for me is listening to a podcast by Fr. Mike Schmitz denouncing the opening in France of the Olympics when blasphemy was committed by mocking The Last Supper of Jesus Christ. I know some of you are thinking this is already old news. At the time, so many wrote and talked about it that I felt it would be overkill if I wrote about i...

TRAVELING WITH ROMA TO ROME

Throughout my years with Roma, I have dragged her through so many different church doors to either preach or play music for, or simply to explore. She has been a really good sport about it all. But last month she came to me and told me from the heart that before she dies she wants to be Catholic.  Channeling my inner Baptist long-windedness I will share with you a very tender and private story of faith.  Roma grew up going to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She went to school there and worshipped there too. When she came of age she wanted to be Catholic and her mother would not allow it. She was heartbroken. She eventually went to the Episcopal Church as a compromise. But in our intimate talks recently she shared deep down she wants to be Catholic before she dies. This has been a lifelong buried desire of hers. I love her and so I have been working on seeing if I can make this happen for her through my contacts that I have. I would naturally join with her so she is not...
