Seeing blood can make some people faint. Blood is very important and we cannot live without it. Blood supplies oxygen and nutrients to our tissues and helps to remove waste from our cells and then is purged from our bodies. In Old Testament times the priest would sprinkle the blood of a sacrificed ram on the altar in the temple and on the mercy seat. But why? The blood was symbolic of life and offering it to God for a life of peace. Secondly and more importantly as blood removes toxic waste from our bodies cells and cleanses the body so the blood was symbolic of cleansing us from our sins.
Now, this is why it was imperative that Jesus Christ had to come and shed His blood to cleanse us from sins once and for all. This was also to stop the animal blood sacrifices that had to be done all the time. Mercy to us and mercy to the animals. This is why the blood of Jesus had to be shed and we should be ever so grateful that He did for we would never have been holy enough to enter into God's presence in Heaven

1 Peter 1:18-19Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
18 For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things like silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb.
Prayer: O'Lord, thank You for Your blessed sacrifice on the cross where You shed Your blood to cleanse us from our sins when we have faith in Your saving grace, in Jesus name, amen.
